TY Programme

The Transition year programme ‘Your Road to Safety’ promotes awareness, knowledge, skills and values and aims to make the students safe road users. This is a teacher led programme and consists of 34 lessons to be delivered over the academic year. The programme focuses on preparing the students for learning to drive. The learning content is divided into four modules: Safe Driver, Safe Journey, Safe Vehicle and Developing Road Skills

It focuses on behaviour that cause deaths and serious injuries on the road – ‘killer behaviours’. it shows students how we all share the road and have a personal responsibility to be safe road users. It covers: Seatbelts, Speed, Intoxicated driving –alcohol and drugs, Driver distraction, Driver fatigue, Passenger Safety and Vehicle maintenance
